Peptides And Nootropics In Mexico: An Interview With Cuerpoymente Founder Maxime Jean-Noel

It’s been 2.5 years since I first promoted Christopher Mercer of Limitless Life Nootropics as my #1 supplier of ultra-pure therapeutic peptides.

And there’s a reason I still promote his company — Chris has held true to his word on maintaining the highest level of peptide quality while adding new peptides to treat a wide range of disease states.

But I want to temporarily give the spotlight to Chris’ good friend: Maxime Jean-Noel, the founder and creator of Cuerpoymente.mx.

Cuerpoymente is the biggest nootropics, supplement and peptide operation happening south of the U.S. border.

This cements Maxime’s company as the BEST source in Latin America for Golden Age compounds… nobody else possesses the wide diversity of exotic agents he does, nor adds new agents as fast as he does.

Maxime got in touch with me through Twitter a while back, and I want the world to know about a reliable source to get high-quality peptides and nootropics if they live in Mexico.

Combined with my move to this glorious country and my encounter with many phenomenal health optimization providers (here, here, and here)…

… it’s time to set up a new home base outside of the limited confines of countries like Canada and the USA.

Let’s dive in!

Bootstrapping a Successful Biohacking Business

Q: Maxime, bring us back to when all of this started. What was the origin story of Cuerpoymente and how did you come up with the idea to build such a business?

A: It goes back to when I first arrived in Mexico in 2010.

I had spent the next 5 years dealing with numerous failed businesses that just didn’t pan out, but I always had a strong passion for health products that enhanced longevity and overall brain health.

The only problem was that no reliable source in Mexico, if any, existed at the time for people like myself to purchase said products.

I thought it would be interesting to start selling those products where I was, both at the local and national level, and that’s how Cuerpoymente was born in 2015.

(NOTE: Cuerpoymente is a neat way of saying “Cuerpo y mente”, a Spanish phrase that translates to “Body and mind” in English)

Q: I imagine starting up a biohacking company like yours in a country like Mexico comes with its fair share of challenges that wouldn’t otherwise exist in the USA. How did you promote yourself over the past 8 years to become the market leader you are today?

A: I had to bootstrap the business and things were very challenging at the start.

For starters, there was the whole ordeal of learning how the substance import laws worked in Mexico and how to either (1) get the products I wanted into Mexico, or (2) find a way to make them myself through a trusted Mexico-based laboratory.

Then I had to repackage all of the compounds the old-fashioned way in small containers… let me say it was a very sharp uphill learning curve to discover how to transfer these compounds without ruining their quality or purity.

I owe a large part of my success to the paid online advertisements I ran on social media platforms like Facebook and Yahoo (although Reddit was a great source of organic traffic).

Unless you’re deep in the trenches of this industry like I am, you wouldn’t know that the rules for what you could and could not say on health ads were much more relaxed back then.

If you had good products, your target customers saw what you were offering and they liked it, it wasn’t too difficult to get started.

Today, health advertising on the Internet is extremely regulated and government agencies are cracking down much harder on unsubstantiated health claims.

(NOTE: If you want to see how bad this gets, read about direct marketing giant Agora Financial and the $2 million they recently had to pay out in refunds)

But as momentum started to work in our favor, we had the capital to graduate from basic nootropics and start going after products that were more advanced/exotic in nature.

Q: How are you growing your presence nowadays, given the changes in rules around advertising your business online and an increasingly competitive marketplace?

A: This is the one area where I think I’ve gotten complacent in recent times, and I’ll divide my answer into two parts.

For the first part, I will say a lot of the efforts myself and my team have put into promoting our business through paid ads and organic outreach continues to pay dividends.

Cuerpoymente also has a long-lasting reputation built through popular Reddit groups focused on peptides and nootropics.

We do have a Reddit page dedicated to Cuerpoymente, but it’s not very active anymore because I later realized people living in Mexico don’t use Reddit that much (even though they know who I am).

If you look at the Reddit posts closely, you’ll notice I chime in from time to time under the username “baronjpetor” to answer questions.

Lastly, we have a Spanish-speaking Telegram channel where we announce the launch of new products and promote special limited-time discounts.

Access to the Telegram Channel is 100% free and we tend to run very important discounts, so I’d say it’s really worth it to subscribe

For the second part of my answer, I’ve started to become over-reliant on the fact that people in Mexico know who we are, at least those who are interested in peptides/nootropics and are aware we exist.

Instead of developing a community around Cuerpoymente as a whole, my focus was developing 1-on-1 relationships with my customers.

At the end of the day, I think this approach is vastly preferred by our customers as people tend to prefer personalized advice over “one size fits all” Youtube videos and generic blog articles.

Those same customers were quick to notice we were the only “serious” actor in the Mexican nootropics/peptides market who was continuously stocking high-quality products.

While we did have some competitors, they end up selling low-quality products because they do not do the due diligence necessary to vet the quality processes of the suppliers they source their products from.

The end result is our customers coming back to us for repeat business while referring their family members and/or friends to our store.

Q: So what’s the plan from here on out? Just continue to expand Cuerpoymente’s presence in Mexico through online marketing, or do you have any related projects you’re pursuing as well?

A: I actually have two projects I’m heavily invested in, which explains why I don’t have a lot of free time on my hands to expand Cuerpoymente’s presence in Mexico.

Project #1 is the creation of a biohacking and integrative medicine summit in Mexico to present the most cutting-edge health tech.

There are multiple summits like this in the USA but Mexico does not have its own flagship event, which is why I’m so passionate about making this succeed.

Project #2 is creating an integrative medicine clinic in the town of Queretaro (three hours north of Mexico City), where I am currently.

The World’s Biggest Collection Of Health Optimization Compounds?

Q: Out of all the biohacking suppliers I’ve ever come into contact with, you unquestionably have the widest diversity of product selection around. Many vendors choose to specialize in one specific kind of compound, yet you break that rule completely and offer a range of choices not even Limitless Life Nootropics has.

Why have you chosen to go down the “all in one” route and create a library of Golden Age agents unrivaled by anybody else?

A: One of my biggest curiosities about suppliers in the USA is why they never bothered with broadening their selection of products.

They’ll start off with about a dozen or so nootropics and then slowly add new products over time.

With Cuerpoymente, we definitely had the opportunity to focus on a narrower selection of products and double down on the 20% of products driving 80% of our sales.

This would have worked well in the USA or the EU, but you have to remember that Mexico is a much smaller market and therefore a smaller product selection would have my business operating at a loss.

It’s far more convenient for me to take on a “you can have it all” approach and provide the largest selection of products without removing our best-sellers.

Q: I couldn’t help but notice the signature labels of other companies on the products you sell on your website. How come you’re allowed to do this? Are you not taking business away from them or engaging in some kind of unethical behavior?

A: There are two major reasons why you’ll see another company’s name on a product we are selling.

The first reason is the company in question has gone out of business and its owner trusts me to sell off their stock at a discounted price.

Over the years, I was fortunate enough to become friends with the founders of several prominent vendors who sell the same kinds of nootropics and peptides as I do.

For instance, when Ceretropic closed its doors permanently in June 2018, Cuerpoymente was a distributor for this company and so the transition of their products toward our shelves was bound to happen.

The same thing happened to popular nootropic sites Science.bio and Botany.bio when they shut down operations for good at the end of Q1 2022 as a proactive measure against increased regulatory action.

The second reason is the company in question is still operational but cannot export products to Mexico.

As a customer in Mexico, you can’t order products to be delivered from the United States because customs will stop them every single time.

The Mexico market and the USA market are impenetrable from either side, so this creates a win-win situation where the company sees me as a collaborator instead of a competitor.

This allows me to become an official distributor for many nootropic companies that want to expand their services into Mexico but don’t have someone like me to help them.

Q: Let me dive deeper into your best-selling products. What exactly are they and how much of your revenue do they drive?

A: Right now, I’d say the breakdown is split between three categories of products.

20% of Cuerpoymente’s sales come from SARMs (Selective Androgen Receptor Modulators), the other 40% comes from therapeutic peptides, and the remaining 40% comes from nootropics and other supplements that don’t fall under the umbrella of peptides and/or SARMs.

Q: Interesting. Despite having over 200 new-generation compounds available for purchase at Cuerpoymente, the list just keeps on expanding. How do you decide what new product(s) are worthy of being added to your inventory?

A: I have several criteria that all factor into any decision I make to stock a new product or not.

First, there’s the efficacy of the product according to scientific studies and reliable testimonials from biohackers.

Second, I need to make sure beyond any shadow of a doubt that the product has a good safety profile so it won’t hurt my customers.

Third, the laboratories we work with have to be able to synthesize the raw material of the compound and independently analyze each batch produced for authenticity and purity.

Q: What about market demand? Do you ever have people demand you carry certain items in your store?

A: Many people in my close circle of business are surprised to hear that market demand doesn’t drive my decision to add or remove products.

Since I started Cuerpoymente, I’ve been able to keep a 1-on-1 relationship with most of my buyers and personally answer their questions whenever I can.

This approach allows me to monitor what products my customers really want us to carry, and when enough customers express their need for a specific product, we could start selling it if I consider the product to be a good addition to our catalog

Q: I guess it’s very rare for you to STOP selling a product, right?

A: The only way I will ever remove a product from my inventory is if I get a cease-and-desist letter in the mail, or it barely sells to the point where it’s no longer in my interest to keep it available.

Q: Can you name a time when you refused to add a product to your shelves despite high market demand?

A: There’s been a lot of hype around the compound Turkesterone and I think a lot of it is unfounded.

Based on the lack of evidence and the extremely high hype behind Turkesterone created by online marketers (see here and here), I believe there’s a heavy placebo effect going on.

I could stock this compound in Cuerpoymente’s inventory and quickly sell out but I won’t because it would be like selling snake oil to my customers.

If I wanted the anabolic effects and other promised health outcomes associated with Turkesterone, you might as well use the real stuff and start using testosterone and human growth hormone.

Exclusively Serving Mexico (And Nowhere Else)

Q: Let me get the bad news out of the way for our readers, and say you do not ship to anywhere else in the world except within the confines of Mexico. Was it always like this? I remember you used to offer international shipping a while back.

A: Yes, you’re right. Allow me to bring your viewers up to speed with a brief bit of history…

In March 2021, I launched a sister website called Cymnootropics.com which was written entirely in English, unlike the Cuerpoymente website which is only written in Spanish.

This was my way of allowing deliveries to the United States, Canada, and Europe where the majority of my English-speaking customers reside.

Unfortunately, this dream was very short-lived and complications with international shipping meant I had to shut down Cymnootropics in December 2021.

So as of today, unless you reside somewhere in Mexico, you won’t be able to receive your order.

Q: That’s unfortunate to hear and it does reflect the intentional suppression of peptides I’ve been talking about for years. Is there any other country you can ship to?

A: We are strictly intra-Mexico only, but we do have a closer partner in Colombia that carries most of the same products as we do.

The website is Peptidos.co and it’s run by my brother-in-law, so consider it my official stamp of approval

(NOTE: Like Cuerpoymente, the website is written entirely in Spanish)

Q: So looking forward, is there any room for expanding the customer base you serve given your company’s physical limitations?

A: There is one silver lining in all of this, and that’s the growing medical tourism industry in Mexico.

I would really love to capture the potential customers who live in Mexico but are not FROM Mexico.

Think of the ex-pats and all the people who come from the United States, Canada, or the European Union.

With more people moving to Mexico than ever, I would assume the potential size of this market is at least as big as the market of peptide-using customers who are native to Mexico.

How To Navigate Cuerpoymente As An English Speaker

Q: Unfortunately for me, your website is 100% written in Spanish and there’s no button to switch all the text to English. I’m guessing people will have to use Google Translate if they want to navigate and understand what they’re seeing.

A: Yes, but this is only temporary.

85% of all my customers are Mexican, and it wasn’t until two years ago that I started to attract English-speaking customers from the United States and Canada.

But as we get more and more orders from ex-pats (whose Spanish-speaking and reading abilities are not perfect yet), we are working on a bilingual version of the website.

I hope it will be available at some point in 2023 but due to the content of the website being huge in volume and technical in detail, it will take a lot of time to do a full translation.

In the meantime, here are some of the pages I would recommend getting familiar with…

Q: Are the prices on your website in pesos (MXN), and if so, how do I convert them to American dollars (USD)?

A: Yes. You can use a currency converter to see what you’re paying.

Between next-day shipping via Fedex or DHL, and secure payment done with cards, Zelle, or cryptocurrency, your order will arrive quickly and safely.

Q: Let’s suppose I travel to Mexico, buy something from Cuerpoymente while I’m there, and receive my order. Would it be advisable for me to go back to Canada or the United States with the products in my luggage?

A: In my experience, I’ve never heard of a problem with someone crossing back into either country with their compounds in their luggage.

Normally, your products can’t be confiscated from you unless they are illegal or you are a wholesaler carrying a ton of them (i.e. someone who is stupidly trying to transport 200 vials of peptides with them).

Just use common sense, put a NORMAL amount of compounds in your check-in luggage, and you’ll be fine.

What’s Currently Hot And Worth Trying At Cuerpoymente

Q: Before we wrap up this interview, I think the audience deserves to know what’s trending right now at Cuerpoymente. Is there any compound flying off the shelves, or perhaps a brand new item you recommend people try out for themselves?

A: I’ve noticed that my customers get the best results overall and the highest likelihood of seeing results with our peptide products.

There’s BPC-157 for treating injuries, the combination of Ipamorelin and CJC-1295 for improved growth hormone production, Epitalon for DNA protection, Thymosin Alpha-1 and Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide for optimal immune function, and the Selank/Semax nasal sprays for cognitive function.

However, there are four compounds currently on the Cuerpoymente website I believe have a lot of unexplored potential and are worth the while of any biohacker

GW0742 – this experimental compound is known as peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR)-δ agonist and was introduced to the world by pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline.

There are numerous proposed health benefits to GW-0742  based on promising animal studies that include lower blood pressure, stabilized blood sugar levels, improved brain health, and decreased risk of heart disease.

But where I believe it really shines is in its potential to increase cardiovascular endurance and boost your total workout capacity.

Jay was reluctant to try this at first due to some studies suggesting increased heart size as a side effect, but he dug into the studies even deeper (with my help) and discovered this concern was largely unfounded.

His initial impressions of GW-0742 were quite enthusiastic and he definitely noticed a difference in cardiac output. (I will be discussing much more about this product in my upcoming book 30 Days 2 Shredz as it is a profound lipolysis accelerator when used correctly)

SR9011 – this is a compound that often gets misclassified as a SARM… rather, it works as an agonist of Rev-ErbAα, a protein responsible for regulating several metabolic pathways.

There are a wide range of health benefits associated with SR9011 that deserve to be investigated: Increased cardiac output, improved mitochondrial health, an and anti-anxiety effect arguably on par with Phenibut.

Due to the lack of oral bioavailability, this compound has to be taken either sublingually or via injection.

I should also mention the possible side effect of insomnia as SR9011 does interact with orexin receptors (more info on orexin here), but I don’t know exactly how common it is.

Cortexin – similar to Cerebrolysin, it is a very potent peptide complex consisting of neuropeptides, amino acids, vitamins, and minerals.

Manufactured by GeroPharm, some people consider Cortexin to be a peptide bioregulator that’s useful for treating a wide range of brain disorders such as epilepsy and delayed speech development.

Not only is it neuroprotective against toxins and free radicals, but it also possesses nootropic properties for the improvement of alertness, stress tolerance, memory and focus.

I personally like this peptide better than Cerebrolysin because you can inject it subcutaneously, and I’ve noticed it has a superior anti-anxiety effect.

PPAP – short for “phenylpropylaminopentane”, I believe this compound is a criminally-overlooked stimulant hiding under the radar.

A brief look on Wikipedia shows it has a very different mechanism from your traditional stimulant:

“Unlike stimulants such as amphetamine, which release a flood of monoamine neurotransmitters in an uncontrolled manner, (-)-PPAP instead only increases the amount of neurotransmitters that get released when a neuron is stimulated by receiving an impulse from a neighbouring neuron”

I’ve noticed PPAP isn’t as “stimmy” or pushy or amphetamines or even Modafinil, and you don’t have to deal with any residual stimulation that interferes with sleep.

The one downside is that it’s quite hard to get and it’s currently out of order, so keep checking back for when I have PPAP back in stock!
